Best to use [[Template:Characters]] for those people. CharacterMulti is only for characters that have appeared in more then one version of Dad's Army, e.g the TV and one of the films. If they've only been in one version then the regular infobox should be used. I'll update it when I update the multi version so don't worry if you get the same problem as you did with CharacterMulti.

I have searched high and low on Google etc for the Dad's Army stage show I saw at Richmond Theatre in Surrey in the Summer of 1976. Surely there is Film or Video available somewhere out there of the full show PLEASE. The only scene I have found so far is the choirs singing of The Cornish Floral Dance on youtube, but nothing else so far.

I would love to transport all Dads' army fans back in time to see that show that included unexpected songs by most of the original cast and the much delayed delivery from Captain Mainwaring of "You stupid Boy" and the crowd's uproar of cheering and applause that followed.

If anybody out there knows the source of the recorded show in full, it could be enjoyed by so many more fans including me and my nearest and dearest too.

This is the general discussion page for the wiki! New founders should leave a nice welcome message and encourage new visitors and editors to leave a note to get the conversation started.

Although I really like the current colour scheme and it's wartime feel I think it would be handy to switch to the new style infoboxes which are far easier to add, transfer and edit. It should be possible to reuse the green/white palate in the Admin dashboard, what do other people think?

I guess we could move to a new infobox, although last year I developed a modified version of the existing infobox, which you can see of the current Captain Mainwaring page. Personally I quite like it, but I never got round to updating the other pages with it. I've never really had trouble with editing it, or the previous version myself. If we were to switch to the new infobox you've designed it would like you say have to match the pre-existing colour scheme.

Fair dos,  I prefer the current aesthetic too. I'm afraid I'm useless with the old style code so I won't be much use creating new ones with the same theming but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

Also do you know if wikipedia got their plot summaries from here or the other way round?

That's fine, if you want a new infobox made to match the others then you can always drop me a message and I'll make it for you, because I'm the other way round, totally useless with the new style code. I've been editing Wikia for so long with the old code, I'm just used to it.

I believe we got the plot summaries from Wikipedia, though it's been so many years now they might have added from us as well. A lot of the content on the wiki originates from Wikipedia back when me and a friend took over the wiki and expanded it greatly. Unfortunately since then there have been very few editors and I've effectively been running the wiki on my own, so have not updated the pages as much as I'd have liked to.

Right I got a little ahead of myself and tried adding extra fields to the infoboxes and have made a bit of a hash of it. Do you know how to hide things that aren't being used in that article. For example aside from Kitchener most characters thankfully don't have a death date which leaves a strange unfilled patch on the page. If it's not possible then I'll remove the edits, thanks in advance.

Yeah I just left you a message on your talk page about editing infoboxes, but don't worry about it. I can make it so fields don't appear unless they have an entry, I was intending to do it in the next few days anyway, so I'll do it as soon as I can, within the next few days probably. Thanks for letting me know.

While we're here am I alright to use CharacterMulti for real people like Churchill and Kitchener ?

Best to use Template:Characters for those people. CharacterMulti is only for characters that have appeared in more then one version of Dad's Army, e.g the TV and one of the films. If they've only been in one version then the regular infobox should be used. I'll update it when I update the multi version so don't worry if you get the same problem as you did with CharacterMulti. --T-2010 | Talk to Me | Promises to aliens have no validity. 16:56, April 12, 2020 (UTC)

Dad's Army Stage show 1976[]

Surely there is Film or Video available somewhere out there of the full show PLEASE. The only scene I have found so far is the choirs singing of The Cornish Floral Dance on youtube, but nothing else so far.
