Raymond, often referred to as "the boy Raymond" by his boss Mr Jones, was a young man who worked in Walmington-on-Sea's butcher's shop. He helped Mr Jones count the coupons, and was well rewarded for his efforts, being praised by Jones and (at least once) receiving a raise (Something Nasty in the Vault, High Finance).

Raymond appeared in several Dad's Army episodes, but was often played by different actors of different ages. Furthermore, Raymond seemed to grow younger rather than older as the series progressed; in his first appearance (The Armoured Might of Lance Corporal Jones) he is a young man, while in later appearances he is a child of around 10-14.
